Infrastructure Spending Creates New Opportunities for Crane Manufacturers

Date:

The global crane market is projected to grow from USD 35.82 billion in 2026 to USD 43.78 billion by 2031, registering a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 4.10%, according to a report by Mordor Intelligence. Rising investments in construction, public infrastructure and renewable energy projects are expected to support demand for lifting equipment worldwide.

Governments and private companies are investing in transportation networks, industrial facilities, energy systems, ports and data centres. These projects require cranes capable of lifting heavy materials and installing large structures safely and efficiently.

The expansion of renewable energy is creating additional opportunities for crane manufacturers. Wind energy projects require specialised equipment to install heavy turbine components, while solar installations need cranes for handling equipment and support structures. Demand for lifting solutions is also increasing for maintenance and repair activities.

Technology is another important factor shaping the industry. Manufacturers are increasingly focusing on electric and hybrid cranes, telematics and fleet management systems. These technologies can help operators improve equipment utilisation, reduce downtime and manage operating costs.

Asia-Pacific remains an important market, supported by infrastructure spending in China and industrial development in India. Investments in transportation facilities, port automation and manufacturing are contributing to regional demand. Meanwhile, major infrastructure projects in the Middle East, particularly Saudi Arabia, are creating opportunities for tower cranes and heavy-lifting equipment.

The market includes mobile, fixed, marine and offshore cranes used across construction, mining, energy, shipbuilding, manufacturing and logistics.

As infrastructure development and clean energy investments continue, the crane industry is expected to see further demand for advanced, efficient and specialised lifting equipment over the coming years.
