Telangana’s road infrastructure is set for a major boost as the Centre has approved the proposed LB Nagar–Hayathnagar double-decker elevated corridor, bringing fresh hope for commuters travelling through Hyderabad’s busy eastern stretch.
Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari approved the proposal during a meeting with Telangana Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy in New Delhi. The project aims to reduce traffic congestion, improve road safety and make daily travel smoother.
The corridor serves a rapidly developing area with more than one million residents across approximately 54 colonies. Office employees, students and business owners depend on this route daily, which has been struggling with heavy traffic and frequent accidents.
Alongside the elevated corridor, the Centre also discussed several other infrastructure projects, including five ropeways under the Parvatmala scheme, three railway overbridges and a cable bridge across the Krishna River at Somasila.
Another significant development is the planned expansion of National Highway 65, connecting Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Machilipatnam. Construction is expected to begin in January 2027, with the tendering process scheduled for completion in November 2026.
These projects could strengthen regional connectivity, improve travel efficiency and support economic growth across Telangana. However, the actual benefits will depend on timely implementation and execution.
The approval marks an important step towards addressing Hyderabad’s growing transportation needs as the city continues to expand.
