HBL Engineering has secured a ₹24 crore contract from the Integral Coach Factory (ICF), Chennai, to supply on-board Kavach equipment for Indian Railways. The order marks another significant milestone in the nationwide expansion of the Kavach system, India’s indigenous Automatic Train Protection (ATP) technology designed to improve railway safety and reduce the risk of train collisions.
Under the contract, HBL Engineering will manufacture and deliver the required on-board Kavach equipment for railway coaches within the stipulated timeline. The project is expected to further strengthen the company’s presence in the railway signalling and safety segment, where it has emerged as one of the leading domestic technology providers.
Kavach is a homegrown safety system developed for Indian Railways that automatically applies brakes when a collision risk is detected, ensuring enhanced operational safety for passengers and railway assets. The government has been accelerating its deployment across major railway routes as part of its modernization and safety initiatives.
