The Uttar Pradesh Avas Vikas Parishad has finalized the detailed project report (DPR) for a new four-lane overbridge across the Hindon River near the Hindon barrage in Ghaziabad, marking a significant step toward improving the city’s transport infrastructure. Prepared by the UP State Bridge Corporation, which will also oversee construction, the DPR clears the path for the next approval stage, including a required no-objection certificate from the UP irrigation department.
The proposed 200-meter bridge will replace the existing narrow single-lane road on the barrage, currently limited to light vehicles and two-wheelers. Once construction begins, the project is expected to be completed within a year, offering smoother traffic movement and direct connectivity for commuters traveling between Siddharth Vihar, Vasundhara, and Indirapuram.
In a parallel infrastructure push, the state government has allocated Rs 31 crore toward a larger Rs 91-crore connectivity project involving the construction of two new entry and exit ramps for the nearby 10.3-km Hindon elevated road. Currently in the tendering phase, these ramp extensions are expected to be completed within 18 months and will further strengthen connectivity between Delhi, Vasundhara, and Raj Nagar Extension, supporting the region’s growing urban development and transportation needs.
