NHAI Plans 3-km Flyover at Narsingpur to Ease Delhi–Gurgaon Expressway Congestion

Date:

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has announced plans to construct a three-kilometre flyover at Narsingpur on the busy Delhi–Gurgaon Expressway to address long-standing traffic congestion issues. The proposed flyover is aimed at easing frequent bottlenecks that occur where traffic transitions from a four-lane stretch at Hero Honda Chowk to a narrower three-lane carriageway near Narsingpur.

This section of the expressway regularly experiences heavy slowdowns, particularly during peak hours. The problem is further worsened by poorly maintained service roads and multiple unauthorised cuts, which disrupt traffic movement and raise safety concerns. To tackle these challenges, NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar has instructed officials to prepare a detailed project report (DPR) for the flyover.

According to NHAI officials, the proposal is currently at a conceptual stage. The final design and alignment of the flyover will be decided only after a detailed technical and traffic study is conducted. “The proposal will first be examined at the concept level before moving ahead with final planning,” an official said.

The flyover project forms part of NHAI’s broader strategy to strengthen road infrastructure, improve connectivity, and ensure smoother and safer traffic flow on one of the National Capital Region’s most critical transport corridors.
