Primorsky Krai Announces Major Construction Push With Over ₽120 B Investment in Maritime Logistics

Date:

Primorsky Krai is witnessing a surge in large-scale investments, with private and regional investors committing more than ₽120 billion (approximately US$1.5 billion) toward commercial maritime and logistics development. Officials confirmed that four major construction projects for new logistics complexes are currently underway, signalling a strategic expansion of the region’s role in Far Eastern maritime trade.

A significant portion of the investment is directed toward strengthening the fishing industry’s fleet capacity. Local companies have announced the construction of 39 vessels — including 28 crab catchers and 11 fishing boats. Of these, 11 vessels are already under construction at regional shipyards, while 15 ships have been completed and deployed, boosting both catch capacity and operational efficiency.

To accommodate rising harvest volumes, the region is expanding its processing ecosystem. Three new fish-processing plants are scheduled for completion by 2029, supported by investments totalling around ₽2.2 billion. Additionally, a major pollock-processing facility in Nakhodka became operational this year, following a ₽1.5 billion investment that created 376 new jobs.

The maritime sector’s rapid growth aligns with rising export demand. Fish and seafood exports from Primorsky increased 13% in the first seven months of 2025, surpassing US$3.1 billion. With strong demand from China, Vietnam, and Japan, the region aims to use these construction-driven upgrades to solidify its position as a key logistics and seafood export hub in Asia.
