GBA Approves 1.4 km Flyover to Ease Hebbal Traffic, Work to Begin Soon

Date:

The Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) has approved the construction of a 1.4 km flyover aimed at easing one of the city’s most congested stretches — the Hebbal corridor. The new structure will link Esteem Mall Junction, Ballari Road, and Manyata Tech Park, offering direct connectivity from the Outer Ring Road–KR Puram side to Ballari Road while bypassing the heavily burdened Hebbal Junction.

The project, to be executed by the Bangalore Development Authority (BDA), is expected to significantly streamline peak-hour traffic flow for thousands of daily commuters traveling between north Bengaluru’s IT hubs and the city centre. Officials confirmed that inter-departmental discussions have been completed, and implementation will begin shortly.

During a recent inspection, GBA Chief Commissioner M Maheshwar Rao instructed BDA engineers to accelerate the construction of a new loop at the existing Hebbal flyover, directing them to complete it within 15 days. While the flyover from KR Puram towards the city is already functional, the connecting loop remains under construction, with the first girder placed and concrete work progressing.

Commissioner Rao further ordered immediate asphalting of internal roads, repair of damaged footpaths near Hebbal Lake, and improvement works in RMV 2nd Stage and Basaveshwara Layout to enhance last-mile connectivity.
