Turner Construction has announced the launch of First Equipment Company, a new venture aimed at enhancing equipment management, availability, and operational efficiency across its projects. The move reflects Turner’s focus on greater control over critical construction resources as project complexity and scale continue to rise.
First Equipment Company will centralise the sourcing, deployment, maintenance, and lifecycle management of construction equipment used across Turner’s portfolio. By bringing these functions in-house, Turner aims to improve jobsite productivity, reduce downtime, and achieve better cost predictability throughout the construction process.
Company officials said the initiative is designed to support consistent equipment standards, faster mobilisation, and improved safety across projects. The new entity will also leverage data and digital tools to track equipment usage, optimise maintenance schedules, and extend asset life—aligning with Turner’s broader push toward technology-driven construction practices.
Industry experts note that tighter equipment control is becoming increasingly important as contractors face labour constraints, compressed timelines, and rising costs. Establishing a dedicated equipment company allows large builders like Turner to respond more quickly to project needs while improving operational resilience.
The launch of First Equipment Company underscores Turner Construction’s strategy to vertically integrate key capabilities, strengthen execution certainty, and deliver complex projects more efficiently in a competitive construction environment.
