In a major relief for daily commuters, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has reduced fares for its air-conditioned bus services in Hyderabad. The decision comes just ahead of the peak summer season, aiming to make comfortable travel more affordable for passengers across the city.
Under the revised fare structure, passengers travelling on Metro Deluxe AC buses will now pay ₹25 for every four kilometres, down from ₹30, a reduction of ₹5 per slab. The fare for e-Metro AC buses has been reduced even further, from ₹35 to ₹25 per four kilometres, marking a ₹10 cut per slab.
Officials stated that AC bus services were operating at around 60% occupancy, largely due to relatively higher ticket prices. With this fare revision, the corporation expects an increase in ridership, particularly during the hot summer months when commuters prefer air-conditioned travel.
The revised fares apply specifically to these AC categories and do not impact ordinary or other bus services. By making premium public transport more accessible, TGSRTC aims to enhance commuter comfort, reduce congestion in non-AC buses and encourage greater use of public transportation in the city.
The move is expected to benefit thousands of daily passengers and strengthen the appeal of public transit in Hyderabad.
