Ramayapatnam Port Construction Nears Completion with 80% of Phase-I Works Finished

Date:

The construction of Ramayapatnam Port is progressing swiftly, with around 80 percent of Phase-I works completed, reflecting strong momentum in Andhra Pradesh’s coastal infrastructure development. Situated in Prakasam district, the deep-sea port is being developed to strengthen maritime connectivity and support large-scale industrial growth in the region.

The port is coming up over 2,000 acres near Chevuru in Gudluru, with a total project cost of ₹4,922 crore. Designed to handle millions of tonnes of cargo per annum, Ramayapatnam Port will serve as a key alternative to major eastern ports such as Visakhapatnam and Chennai, easing logistical pressure and improving cargo movement efficiency. The project is also expected to benefit industries across Prakasam and Nellore district.

Being developed under the Andhra Pradesh Maritime Board, the project has achieved major construction milestones. Two breakwater berths have been completed, the port link road is operational, and about 20 percent of the railway line works have been executed. District Collector Rajababu, after reviewing the project, expressed satisfaction with the progress of construction and land acquisition.

Phase-I construction is scheduled for completion by April, further strengthening the region’s port-led industrial ecosystem.
