The Ministry of Railways has approved a budget of Rs 509 crore for the construction of two major railway flyovers in Odisha’s Cuttack and Rayagada districts under the Energy, Mineral & Cement Corridor Scheme. This initiative aims to enhance train movement efficiency across key railway lines.
In Cuttack, a 10.89 km rail flyover will be constructed to connect Rajathgarh, Radhakishorepur, and Machhapur railway stations. With an investment of Rs 268.92 crore, the project will enable simultaneous train movements, eliminating delays caused by cross-traffic and significantly improving operational capacity.
In Rayagada district, a 5.50 km rail flyover at Singapur Road Station will be built at an estimated cost of Rs 239.83 crore. This flyover aims to reduce traffic congestion on the Raipur-Vizianagaram Rail Line, a vital route for passenger and freight trains.
Both flyovers are designed to allow seamless train movement from multiple directions, addressing current bottlenecks at key junctions like Singapur Road Station and Machhapur. These projects are expected to bolster train operations, ensuring smoother, faster, and more efficient railway services in the region.
