Mid-Size Construction Firms Report 20% Productivity Boost Through AI Adoption

Date:

Mid-size construction companies are witnessing a significant surge in productivity as they increasingly adopt artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, according to a new survey by the AI Institute in Ireland. The study reveals that firms integrating AI tools into their operations have experienced productivity gains of up to 20%, marking a major shift in how mid-tier players approach digital transformation.

The survey highlights that AI is proving especially effective in automating repetitive tasks, improving project scheduling, enhancing risk forecasting, and strengthening on-site coordination. These improvements are helping firms reduce delays, minimise cost overruns, and streamline labour management—long-standing challenges for the construction sector.

The findings also show that the productivity boost stems not from a single technology, but from the holistic integration of AI-driven analytics, automation systems, and workflow optimisation tools. By embedding these technologies across project lifecycles, companies are enabling faster decision-making and more accurate resource planning.

As competition intensifies and project complexity increases, the report underscores a clear trend: AI adoption is becoming essential rather than optional for mid-size construction firms. Those embracing digital technologies today are likely to secure a long-term advantage in efficiency, execution, and profitability.
