India’s Construction Sector Embraces Industry 4.0 for Sustainable Growth

India’s construction industry is rapidly integrating Industry 4.0 technologies to enhance efficiency, sustainability, and competitiveness. This digital transformation encompasses the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM), drone technology, cyber-physical systems, prefabrication, and green construction practices.

A recent report by PwC, titled “Construction Industry Vision 2025: Towards a Digital Future,” highlights that the sector contributed approximately 8% to India’s GDP in FY2019. Projections indicate this could rise to 14% by FY2040, with employment in the sector expected to exceed 66 million. The report emphasizes the need for technological adoption to address challenges such as project delays and cost overruns.
