Nagpur Metro’s ambitious Phase 2 project is advancing at a swift pace, with significant headway on the Kamptee corridor. Construction work has begun on 14 of the planned 32 stations, and civil tenders worth ₹3,312.70 crore have already been awarded. The 13 km Kamptee line, with 12 stations, stands out as the most station-dense and second-longest segment in this phase, and is expected to be completed by December 2027 along with the entire network.
Land acquisition for the project is 80% complete, with consent letters secured from remaining landowners. Progress is also evident on the Mihan-Butibori and Hingna corridors, where groundwork has commenced. To support construction, three casting yards are currently operational, including a new facility near Gumgaon village.
The Rs 6,708 crore project spans 43.8km and aims to connect Nagpur’s peripheral areas to its central core. It is being funded through contributions from the European Investment Bank (EIB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), and equity investments from the central and state governments. With viaduct construction nearing Kamptee and preparatory work underway across all four sections, officials are confident that the entire Phase 2 will be ready for public use by December 2027.
