James Kirkpatrick Group’s massive new logistics hub on Puhinui Road has emerged as Auckland’s biggest upcoming construction project in the latest development pipeline report by CBRE.
The $1 billion industrial and logistics park in south Auckland is planned over about 65 hectares near key motorway and airport links. The project includes five speculative warehouses totalling around 65,000 square metres, anchored by a single 6.5-hectare logistics facility, described as one of the largest new warehouses currently under way in the city. The hub is designed to support national distribution networks and serve rising e-commerce and freight demand.
CBRE’s Auckland New Development Monitor tracks 43 active office, retail and industrial projects across the region, with industrial and logistics schemes dominating at 28 projects. Wiri, Penrose and Drury are highlighted as the busiest industrial precincts, with the Puhinui Road logistics project ranked as the most significant development in the current pipeline.
On the commercial and retail front, the report flags a major new office scheme at Downtown West and the IKEA megastore under construction at Mt Wellington, along with a growing retail pipeline at Westgate. Together, these projects signal sustained long-term confidence in Auckland’s growth despite higher interest rates and construction cost pressures.
