Escorts Kubota Limited has revised its outlook for India’s tractor industry for FY 2026-27, anticipating a marginal single-digit decline in overall industry volumes during the financial year. The company expects demand to remain subdued in the second half due to uneven monsoon rainfall, lower reservoir levels and regional agricultural challenges.
The Western region has emerged as a major area of concern, recording a 21% decline in tractor industry volumes during Q2 FY27. Reduced rainfall and water availability have affected agricultural activity and tractor replacement demand across several markets.
Despite these challenges, Escorts Kubota reported a relatively strong performance. Its domestic tractor volumes grew 0.9% year-on-year in Q2 FY27, outperforming the overall domestic tractor industry’s 3.1% decline. The company’s standalone revenue from operations increased to ₹3,231.37 crore from ₹2,777.42 crore in the corresponding quarter last year.
The construction equipment segment also delivered encouraging growth, with volumes increasing 53.9% year-on-year, compared with industry growth of 19.7%.
The company’s revised outlook highlights the impact of regional agricultural conditions on India’s tractor market. Factors such as reservoir storage, Rabi crop sowing, rural demand and farm income will remain important indicators for the sector.
While near-term tractor demand faces challenges, growth in construction equipment offers an additional opportunity for Escorts Kubota to strengthen its business performance.
